Less of a school hall and more of a massive utility space, this room caters for every kind of function at St Peter's College, at lunchtime, it functions as a canteen, it also holds school assemblies and the Eucharist on Friday morning. The former space was practical but unwelcoming, the walls were cold and in essence, it was all function over form. We installed panelled walls, painting the lower half in navy blue and finishing the join between wall and floor with timber skirting. We opened up the chapel space and splayed it out, lowered the ceiling and introduced ambient lighting to highlight the vertical timber cladding on walls.
